About Zachary's Work Zachary A. Edison addresses the role of an individual as it pertains to a larger community. Where a person’s identity ends, where their anonymity begins, and the tensions that arise as he or she is faced with scenarios persuading one to forego their sense of self are elements referencing the mechanism as it physically grips the figure in each work. These concepts carried through drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures place the individual at the forefront using very specific, idiosyncratic details as a celebration of each person’s uniqueness and individuality.

Edison is a preparator at the Birmingham Museum of Art and a member of PaperWorkers Local. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Art Studio and Bachelor’s of Arts in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
