MARKING TIME & SPACE

Recent Works From John Demotte and Michael Merry

John Demotte explores the concept of space in this series of photo-etchings by combining 2 plates from a series of 10 made from photographs of places marked by time and random objects found in the environment. The combined images use line, texture, color, and differing orientations to define, measure, and manipulate space.

Time is a fundamental aspect of Michael Merry’s work. He rarely considers his pieces finished, returning to them again and again over long periods. Reflecting his view of the world around him, his works slowly build over time long past the point when any ideas around their original stimulus have been forgotten.
